Healing Hands Network

The Healing Hands Network (HHN) is a charity dedicated to the relief of suffering caused by war and disaster.

HHN Aims

Our aims are very simple — to use our healing hands to help anyone who needs our skills, regardless of race, colour or creed, and to ensure that all the money raised for Healing Hands Network is used to benefit those we seek to help.

What we do

1) We send qualified, experienced volunteer complementary therapists to Bosnia to treat people who lived through the longest siege in modern European history. Helen did a two week volunteer tour in Sarajevo in July 2012 having raised £900 to fund the trip. It was an amazing, rewarding and humbling experience. This year Helen has raised over £1,000 towards her second trip and looks forward to returning to the beautiful city of Sarajevo.

UK Forces Project

2) A fairly new project launched in 2011, to help Service and ex-Service personnel and their families in the UK with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). HHN has joined forces works with Combat Stress to work in various locations in the UK helping ex-Service personnel.

The hidden horrors of war — treating returning Service and ex-Service personnel in the UK

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: figures published by the MoD in November 2008 showed that nearly 4,000 new cases of mental health disorder were diagnosed among armed services personnel in 2007. They also showed that personnel sent to Afghanistan or Iraq were more likely to suffer PTSD, a psychological and physical condition that can be caused by extremely distressing events, including military combat.

How HHN can help you
Our therapists are offering their skills to help servicemen and women, particularly those returning from combat, maybe with injuries or amputations, who may be experiencing the debilitating effects of PTSD and who may not be receiving medical treatment or who have been signed off. We also help men and women who have been discharged from the armed forces, and the husbands and wives of Service and ex-Service personnel.

What the Healing Hands Network offers

After an initial consultation you will receive four treatments followed by an evaluation. Treatments are free although a donation towards our work is expected. Anything you tell your therapist will be treated in the strictest confidence.
